Hilary Knight, who has illustrated more than fifty books for children including Kay Thompson’s Eloise appeared at the Eric Carle Museum for a special storytime program followed by a book signing. The event was to celebrate the 60th birthday of Eloise, declared by The New York Times as “one of the most recognizable characters in children’s literature!”

Eloise is a the darling of The Plaza hotel, and this year is a “rawther” large celebration as she will be celebrating 60 years skittering down the hall and getting into hilarious hijinks in the most famous hotel in New York with her dog who looks like a cat, Weenie, and Skipperdee, her turtle. “The Plaza is the only hotel in New York that will allow you to have a turtle.”

Rizzoli Bookstore and Simon & Schuster will celebrate the 60th anniversary of "Eloise" with a conversation between "Eloise" illustrator Hilary Knight and three-time Tony winner Bernadette Peters, who can be heard narrating the new "Eloise" audiobooks.

The free event, which will be moderated by Playbill.com senior editor Andrew Gans, will be held Nov. 9 at 5:30 PM at the Rizzoli Bookstore, which is located in Manhattan at 1133 Broadway at 26th Street.
