HILARY KNIGHT’S STAGE STRUCK WORLD
April 25, 2017 – October 14, 2017
The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
at Lincoln Center
40 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York
Best known as the illustrator of the American classic Eloise, Hilary Knight cites the performing arts as the single greatest influence on his life and career. Now for the first time, Hilary Knight's stage-struck life is the subject of a comprehensive exhibition that includes original artwork for posters; theatrical illustrations for Vanity Fair magazine (where Knight is a contributing editor); Knight's most recent work—three-dimensional portraits in stage-like settings—and costume and set designs for performances and revues that reveal that for Hilary Knight, all the world is indeed a stage.
On May 22, 2017 Lilane Montevecchi stopped by to visit our show at the Lincoln Center. She posed for the ''bluebird lady” in circus mural, from Hilary’s book ''The Circus is Coming !''
Here she is with her portrait. She is included in the vitrine ''stars'' which includes funny ladies along with Kaye Ballard, Bette Midler, Martha Ray, Carmen Miranda...and Dame Edna
